I want to learn to play the guitar but im not sure what guitar to get. I want to get one the is good but doesnt cost that much. im looking to get one at http://www.guitarcenter.com/ but idk what kind or anything im new to all of this stuff.
What is a good guitar for someone who is just learning?
try an ibanez thats probably your best bet for a good cheap one
What is a good guitar for someone who is just learning?
Here%26#039;s a decent guitar to start with, from Ibanez:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/I...

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-V-Ser...

I gave you both the musician%26#039;s friend listing and the guitar center listing. It gets rated fairly high for a guitar in its price range. You%26#039;ll want to add a case; that%26#039;s extra.

That%26#039;s an acoustic electric; you can play it without amplification or if you ever get an amp you can plug it in.

Here%26#039; s a great book to get you started:

http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Basics-Esse...

Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of guitar!
Reply:Here%26#039;s what I would recommend because;

you won%26#039;t have to buy an amplifier, you don%26#039;t need to find an electrical outlet, it%26#039;s good quality at acheap price and you can later buy an electric %26amp; amp if you wish and keep this.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-FG730...

Note that it has all you need for an acoustic guitar, solid top , fair tone , playable neck.
Reply:Hey,

Welcome to the world of guitar playing. Ibanez are good guitars, but I recommend a Squire Deluxe Strat. I played one the other day and I was impressed, Squire has a reputation for making cheap guitars, but this particular model strat exceeded my expectations. It%26#039;s available for $250 and with two finish options. Good luck choosing.

WICKED fans Question?

in wicked when they sing No one mourns the Wicked for the firt time.... who do they think is dead? Is it Nessa? I am seeing it on Broadway this summer but so far Ive only heard the songs.
WICKED fans Question?
Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, who is believed to have been melted by the farmgirl Dorothy, whose house landed on Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East.

The first lyrics are:

Good news!

She%26#039;s dead!

The witch of the west is dead!

The wickedest witch there ever was

The enemy of all of us here in Oz is dead

Good news!

Good news!

No One Mourns The Wicked is the equivalent to Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead from the Wizard of Oz. The former celebrating the death of Elphaba and the latter the death of Nessa.
WICKED fans Question?
good question....i saw the play a while ago (great play, by the way) and its probably not nessa, since nessa is elphie%26#039;s sister and is alive throughout the musical, so im really not sure? you%26#039;ll just have to find out when you see the play--besides if i knew, you wouldnt want me to ruin anything ! :)
Reply:No, they%26#039;re singing about Elphaba. The beginning of the show takes place after everything has happened with Dorothy and then goes back in time when Glinda starts telling the story of her and Elphaba in school together. At first I thought it was Nessa but then I realized they were singing about the witch of the west, not east.

Have fun seeing the show! I know you will enjoy it. :)
Reply:elphaba. she%26#039;s the wicked witch. nessarose, her sis was dropped on by a house
Reply:They think that Elphaba is dead in the beginning.

When she%26#039;s not really dead. You%26#039;ll see the rest at the end.
Reply:no dont ruin it for ur self
Reply:They are speaking of Elphaba. Elphaba is known as the main Witch. The Wicked Witch of the West.

Does anyone know who LOS Productions is??

cool.

Right back at ya =D

How do I play just the A note with the bow on the violin?

My bow keeps hitting the E note at the same time I try playing an A note. I%26#039;m attempting to teach myself, by the way.
How do I play just the A note with the bow on the violin?
try lifting your elbow a little higher. If you%26#039;re hitting the E string but lightly, it%26#039;s not that big of a deal. Actually my teacher said that an audience will not hear the mistake.
How do I play just the A note with the bow on the violin?
is your bow tightened? (and then you loosen it when you have finished practicising)

piano man
Reply:find the right angle i guess, it%26#039;s not noticable once you get used to it. use a light touch, try and mute the strings on each side by lightly touching them with your fingers but not pressing down. this might help you now just to get the feel of it. Practice just bowing the different strings back and forth and changing strings. You might need to give up in frustration and try on different days.
Reply:Practice just long tones on your violin...that means use the whole bow and do it slowly. Look at the bridge while you are playing, that is the best place to watch the angle of your bow. It is true that an audience will not be able to hear that if you are up on stage, but you%26#039;ll be able to hear it and that should be enough motivation for you to want to fix it.

Good bass guitar?

I%26#039;m looking to buy a bass guitar but not sure what one I want yet. Any suggestions for a good 4 string bass that doesn%26#039;t cost a fortune?
Good bass guitar?
get something from fender or if you want a beginners bass get a squier bass. Its good enough, I wouldnt really know about the basses because I play guitar but I have a Squier Affinity Strat. The sound sucked, so I changed the bridge pickup to an active EMG 81. This forced me to disconnect and abandon the other two single-coils, but i dont care about them anyway. Aside from sound, which can be changed, the playability of Squier or Fender is pretty good. THE BEST thing to do is to go to your local guitar shop and try out a few bass guitars and see which one is in your price range and which one you like. Your first/second bass/guitar does not have to be THE ONE AND ONLY PERFECT guitar/bass you%26#039;ve been looking for.

Is David Archuleta participating in the 2008 summer tour?

I%26#039;ve heard from one of my friends that he might not be participating in the tour, she said she saw it on TV. I know it sounds crazy but I just want to comfirm.
Is David Archuleta participating in the 2008 summer tour?
I am not really sure that I have heard anything about him going on tour but if it has anything to do with the crazy dad of his, I think they would rather not invite that kind of trouble. How many people think that man is going to ruin it all for him??
Is David Archuleta participating in the 2008 summer tour?
i read on yahoo like a week ago that he is going to be on the tour still.

A good one is going to cost around $200+.
How much is a full size acoustic guitar?
Guitars range from $300.00 to Donald Trump prices. If you are a beginner, I would suggest the full size-student model-Applause-- usually under 3 bills and a real work horse for those who are not use to handling a high dollar item. Hope this helps.

Why does the Phantom's hair change color?

In the Phantom of the Opera. During Don Juan she rips his mask off and then it literally changes color from black to blonde. Uh... why?

You are not flexible enough. That type of pain is unsafe. Try stretching and warming up those muscles for about 15 minutes each day. You should be able to do it in no time.

How do you start?

I have this friend, who lives and breathes modeling. But she has no idea where to start or how to get a portfolio together. Does anyone have any clue as to how you would do that?
How do you start?
Have her get pictures taken of her and get them printed to start out, as she progresses it%26#039;ll add up from there.
How do you start?
Yeah, I could feature her on websites and send out a few photos to major companies.

Let me know if you need it, it%26#039;s all free I%26#039;m 14 years old but can defenetily help you out, quickly too :)

Here%26#039;s my email: killswitch013@hotmail.com

I%26#039;ll reply within an hour, unless its school hours!

Good luck, And let me know!
Reply:It is REALLY hard, you%26#039;d have to live in hollie wood
Reply:You did not say in which city she lives. The modeling industry, for the USA is located in NYC. Does she plan to move to New York?
Reply:I hate to admit, but sometimes it just happens on a whim.

I had a friend back in high school who signed up for what she thought was a college scholarship program, but ended being enrolled into a modeling academy in Boston that discovered Ashton Kutcher and Katie Holmes (Barbizon School of Modeling and Acting in Boston, MA) and ended up in a few adds, but she didn`t pursue it too much because it wasn`t in her best interests.

Since we don%26#039;t know where your friend lives, encourage her to look up some nearby modeling agencies or schools, even if it%26#039;s a few states away; if she really wants it, she`ll go for it, trust me. Also, listen on the radio or adds on tv or in the mall about modeling; sometimes they pop up once and while but go unnoticed.

Also, you might try talking to a theater director if you%26#039;re in high school or college, they might have some juicy details on the right ways to start off.

Tell your friend good luck and I hope she gets the start that she needs!
Reply:Tell her to get some 8 x 10 black and whites and some color pics.

Get a good camera and take some shots of your friend. Do side shot, or with the head slightly turned to one side.

Everybody has a good and bad side of the face sort of speak. Then, take photos with her looking up at the camera.

Have her turn her back and let her spin around and freeze that pick with the hair flying.

These are ideas. Be creative and build black and white at the beginning of the portfolio, and then add some colored picks.

My only suggestions would be to gather more air and breath and support from your diaphragm, make sure your whole body is relaxed, especially for the audition, try and create a sound and feeling that reflects you and adds a little bit of your own spice and tone. Also try to listen to yourself to produce a better full, clearer, pure sound - and keep that vibrato up, it`s very lovely!

It was beautiful, keep it up and good luck at your auditions!

I need some DRUM MAJOR tips, please?

Thanks for everything.

haa! no way! super mario theme?!

that is amazing.

anyways, i haven%26#039;t been drum major before, and i don%26#039;t think i could ever be drum major.

BUT what i would do is look at different pieces of music, and just start conducting them. like, do the hand move things. haa. and maybe even get your band director to give you some pointers.

sorry i didn%26#039;t help much.

but good luck hunny!
I need some DRUM MAJOR tips, please?
Just make sure you know all the marching basics/commands(because you WILL still have to march), and also how to call drill downs, and conduct. Work on conducting your show, calling out the Attention, Mark Time, and any other commands, in tempo, before the music starts. Also, practice conducting with whatever band/classical CDs or DVDs you have. The more practice conducting you have, the better.

BUT make sure you know how to march and everything as well. It%26#039;s not all just standing on a podium waving your arms around. You have to know how music and marching band works as well.

Good luck!
Reply:well make sure you have your technique down as far as conducting goes. Most auditions consist of field directions and conducting. Make sure to make eye contact before you count off a song, this shows the players that you%26#039;re serious, and allows them time to get ready. When shouting commands, make your voice clear and loud. Also make sure you aren%26#039;t speeding or slowing down your clapping (if your school does that). Um.. it doesn%26#039;t hurt to learn some cues (crescendo, entrances, etc). and def make sure you can cut off properly

How can I be a better dancer?

I%26#039;ve been in hip hop for 2 years now.. I really like it, and I really want to become the dancers in Step Up 2 and the other pros. I videotaped myself and... I look really bored and just really floppy.. haha. I have no clue how to... if anyone can help me it will be great! Thanks!!
How can I be a better dancer?
Well, you definitely sound like you have the determination and will to pursue a career like that, but as a dance major in college and a dancer for fifteen years, here are some ways to get there:

- first of all, having some good solid dance lessons and schooling can make a good impression in the future of being hired as a professional dancer

- second, you must dedicate your heart and soul to it, WHEN you are ready, don`t dive into something you don`t think you really love and are going to stick to it and work hard; this is reality, and life is only what you make of it.

- third, start thinking about taking other forms of dance; such as ballet, modern, jazz, pointe (you`ll probably have to wait a little bit for that), and I know some people don%26#039;t want to do %26quot;other%26quot; dances because they only like one particular type, but trust me, it`ll all connect in the end and you`ll be accepted more with all the extra experience.

- fourth, I really don`t know how serious you are about this, but I hope you are very serious because dance is just an utterly amazing thing =], just keep working at it, never stop, never give up, never let anyone else get the better of you by saying it`s stupid or a waste of your time; because it definitely isn%26#039;t, dance is a wonderful and just delicate and beautiful art, no matter what form.

I am also bias because I am a dancer =] and I too fell in love with both step ups, but it is true, those dancers did not get onto that screen by just saying they really liked dancing - they worked their asses off for many years and it took some damn good just raw skill, dedication, concentration, hard work, will, and belief in themselves to do it.

So good luck, and keep on dancing!

Who is/was the greaster performer musically?

Who is/was the greaster performer musically?
Michael Jackson
Who is/was the greaster performer musically?
this is counting all music from the bc times to 2008..... seriously people.... i%26#039;m not a big fan myself, but Amy Lee, the lead singer of Evanesence has the most breath taking voice I%26#039;ve ever heard. the range, the pitch accuracy, it%26#039;s all perfect. i%26#039;m a singer myself, and you guys have no idea how hard it is to sing like her... almost impossible.
Reply:That%26#039;s an impossible question to answer for various reasons. Firstly, it%26#039;s a matter of opinion. Secondly, how can you compare performers who are radically different? For example, I would be stumped trying to decided if Kirk Hammett from Metallica was better than Bob Dylan. They did completely different things. It%26#039;s like trying to decided if a washing machine is better than a bookcase. They carry out a completely different role.

Even if you were to ask me to name my own personal favourite I wouldn%26#039;t be able to, because performance is not a rigid thing with set parameters. It%26#039;s a fluid, abstract thing which changes depending any number of psychological, environmental or chronological variables. Not only that, even the meaning of the word in this context is open to interpretation, so what one person considers performance is not necessarily going to be similar to someone else%26#039;s understanding of the word.
Reply:No question!

How can you develop your own music style/sound?

Im currently in a band and we are trying to create a unique sound (rock music). What are the best ways to experiment and come up with good stuff?
How can you develop your own music style/sound?
The best answer I can give on this seems like an obvious one:

Be %26quot;honest%26quot;. Do what you like, regardless of what other people think about your music. Music is a form of art, and art is about expressing yourself. You are a unique person, so, if you write %26quot;honestly%26quot;, you%26#039;re music will be as unique as you are .

On a more practical note: Look at things from different perspectives. If you find a sound you like (even if it%26#039;s not musical) try to incorporate that into your music. If you want to try a musical idea that seems ridiculous, go for it. After all, if it doesn%26#039;t work out, nobody has to hear it.

As a band, you could also appoint a practice every now and then to just making up music on the spot, with no intention of writing something or doing things a certain way. Avoid preconceived notions. Just make organized noise together, and I gaurantee that eventually it will spark some very unique ideas.

Hope that helps a bit!
How can you develop your own music style/sound?
By playing and more playing. Play the stuff you love. Let yourself be free to write down, put together, and actually keep the stuff you write. If it doesn%26#039;t work, put it in your guitar case and come back to it. It will work great later.

And def don%26#039;t force yourself to try to sound %26#039;new%26#039; or anything like that. If you play/sing and you respect those greats that came before you, don%26#039;t try to be different for the sake of being different, that%26#039;s sorta arrogant. Just play your stuff, it will come out and end up being different anyway. There is nothing new under the sun.

But to answer the last part of your ?, the best way is to expand your musical vocabulary. I love rock and all sorts of music. Never limit or pigeon hole yourself by saying %26#039;I only listen to this sort of music%26#039;. I go from the Stripes to Radiohead to Zep to Old Crow Medicine Show. I pull a little from each. Music rules!
Reply:The best ways to discover your style is to play along different music you like. Somehow, somewhere, something is going to make you realize that you are more at ease in certain music and in certain fingerings when you solo.

You have to be creative and do your own thing. i practiced all the scales and when I solo, I will build improvsation arounf the melody as much as possible.

Practice makes perfect. Don%26#039;t be afraid to record yourself and experiment even if you make mistake.

In drama, what are some typeso f Moods?

At school in drama we are doing process drama. After every lesson we are asked to write a response/ journal entry. I handed in a draft of mine and my teacher said I had to state the type of mood. Helpp? What are types of moods?
In drama, what are some typeso f Moods?
Fear.

Horror.

Sadness.

Anger.

Indifferent.

Happy.

Ecstatic.

Tired.
In drama, what are some typeso f Moods?
In my theatre 3 class, my teacher always tells us to state an action verb, not necessarily a mood. Action things are verbs like cajole and seduce and reprimand. Angry and crying are not action verbs. Depending on what your character wants, you ave different verbs. If your character is frustrated, ask yourself why. Are they trying to persuade the other person? Are they getting annoyed? I don%26#039;t know if this will help you, but it certainly helped me and my class. The actions that you play (i.e. crying and happy) are results of you action verbs.

How can i teach a 8 year old girl and 6 year old to act sing and dance?
I am not that good at dancing or singing but how I taught the kids at my local church/ orphanage guitar was showing them videos of people they age playing to motivate. Show them like lizzy mcguire singing and hannah montanna dancing to get them motivated then make there moves like simon says but always say simmon says. go to the left and then make them do it backwards on who can do it fastest but correctly

Reply:y not a fender
Reply:Get one that sounds good to YOU and has the action you can live with. Looks do not make any sound so forget them. There are three distinct guitar sounds that every guitar maker tries to simulate, they are the Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster and a Les Paul. It takes a long time for beginners to hear the difference in all 3 guitars. Listen to early Allman brothers band music to hear Les Pauls, Eric Clapton for Stratocaster and just about all country music for the Telecaster(you%26quot;ll hear the distinctive %26quot;twang%26quot;). Play a lot of different guitars in the store and most important play them as loud as you would at a gig to hear what they are REALLY going to sound like.

Jackson Randy Rhoads?

Is there any other differences in the RR1 and RR3 Jackson models, besides the set neck in the RR1?
Jackson Randy Rhoads?
yes...alot of differences...look at them side by side CLOSELY!!! you must be blind to have to ask such a stupid f*ckin question!!!!!!
Jackson Randy Rhoads?
Both are nice guitars but the RR-1 is the original and the set neck gives more sustain and ballz then the RR3

Seymour Duncan pickups are warm and gutsy. Like I said, I tried both and also repair them for the factory.

If you want the real deal, RR-1 is the choice.

Learning guitar?

OK, I%26#039;m learning to play guitar. Not through classes, not through online lessons. I know how to read tabs like the ones on www.ultimate-guitar.com and I%26#039;ve had about a week or so of practice on a fairly easy song. One of my parents said she would get me an electric guitar if I learn the acoustic guitar good enough.

question being: About how long do you think it will take me if I keep practicing an hour a night, like good enough to play some fast songs? (example: FCPREMIX by Fall of Troy)
Learning guitar?
If you really practice hard you might get good enough to play normal acoustic songs in a few months. It%26#039;ll be hard without help, but one of the big things in acoustic is bar chords. it%26#039;ll look like this on a tab:

3

3

4

5

5

put your pointer finger across the whole fret and then use your other three fingers to play the 4 5 5 (it%26#039;s like an E chord, but moved up). Look those up online because there%26#039;s a few others.

To play a minor bar chord just take away the 4 there. Any bar chord can be played anywhere on the neck, just be sure to play it the same ex:

just put the pointer finger down and lay your ring finger over the fret 2 in front of your pointer.

Try playing blackbird, but be sure to start out slow and not use a pick. Jack Johnson is also good for inspiration, but he%26#039;ll probably be too hard for you to do for a while.
Learning guitar?
Hey Dizz

If you practice 7 days a week, you are on the right track. The secret to anything is to practice every single day. Here is a little help you out.

Use one finger per fret. 1-2-3-4 ...pick this with alternate up and down stroke.

Practice on each string and when you get to the small string, go backwards.....4-3-2-1

Then, re-start with 4-3-2-1 and when you get to the small string, do 1-2-3-4.

Do this steadily and you will increase your speed in 2 weeks guaranteed.

How can i become an anime voice actress?? what do i need to do??

Well it%26#039;s basically like acting you have to audition for it and then I guess...if you get in they%26#039;ll record you in an anime sitcom.
How can i become an anime voice actress?? what do i need to do??
for voice acting in things like commercials, tv, movies, etc, you go through the same process as normal actors do. you have an agent, audition, etc

just research it.

good luck!
How can i become an anime voice actress?? what do i need to do??
You%26#039;ll need a voiceover agent. They handle finding auditions for parts where its your voice only.

Do you need to have long fingers to be good at guitar?

no you just need to know how to play and be decent at it
Do you need to have long fingers to be good at guitar?
Nope! You just need to practice!

My friend only has two fingers and a thumb on his left hand, and he still plays guitar quite well!
Do you need to have long fingers to be good at guitar?
Don%26#039;t worry you don%26#039;t have to have long fingers to be good at guitar because they made guitar picks. If you want to see how they look just go in google and than go to images and write guitar picks, by that you can see how they look. You could by those from any guitar store.
Reply:That%26#039;s a weird question.Who ever said that you need long fingers to play good at guitar.I know people that have short fingers and play so well.Don%26#039;t listen to people if they tell you that you have long fingers and you can play.If you want to play a guitar well then take lessons.
Reply:No...this is a myth.. I have long fingers but its irrelevant. If you have short fingers, make sure that your hand is parallel to the fingerboard. This way,you can finger stretch easily.

Many guitarist tend to twist their hand to the left and this shortens the span of the little finger especially.

Has anyone ever done Marching Band?

This is my first year doing Marching Band and I was just wondering ifa nyone out there has ever done Marching Band give me your opinions...

~!~Katie~!~
Has anyone ever done Marching Band?
I am going to be going into my second year of marching band next year. I love love love marching band, but how much you love marching band depends on how intense your school is, how much you like music, and how good/fun your band director is. Competitions are really fun, because you get to hang out with your friends and stuff.
Has anyone ever done Marching Band?
My husband was in Marching Band and loved it!!! I know a lot of people think that being in band is really nerdy, but don%26#039;t worry about it. It is a lot of fun. My husband was also Homecoming King...so, you just have to do what you want to do and have fun with it!! Good luck!
Reply:I did 4 years of competitive marching band, and I was drum major while I was in highschool.

It%26#039;s amazingly fun, first of all! It%26#039;s really challenging, though. Your calves will hurt when you start marching, you will get sunburned during rehearsals, you WILL start walking everywhere in tempo(even when you%26#039;re not marching, just like walking through the mall or something), and you will be out of breath a LOT. BUT, on the other hand, your musicality will improve, as will your breath support. You will start to understand the way the phrases of music move, as reflected in the drill movements. You will definitely appreciate the effort of the people who do it in college, and who do stuff like Drum Corps.

Advice: wear comfy tennis shoes to practice(NOT sandals, flip flops, or anything where you can%26#039;t roll your feet from heel to toe), bring LOTS of water and chapstick(your lips will probably start to hurt), be ready for a lot of practing the same thing over and over, get ready to memorize your music, and most importantly: HAVE FUN!!! We wouldn%26#039;t do it if it wasn%26#039;t a great time! :D
Reply:HERES THE DL ON MARCHING BAND ITS WONDERFUL IT A GREAT EXPERENCE I HATED IT AT FIRST BUT YOU GROW TO LOVE IT YOU MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND YOU GO TO A NEW PLACE WITH MUSIC YOU LEARN HOW TO READ IT AND PLAY DIFFERENT INSTRUMANTS MARCHING BAND IS A HOME AWAY FROM HOME A SECOND FAMILY YOU COMPETE PARAIDS PEP RALLYS IF YOURE A PERCUSSIONIST THERES IN DOOR DRUMLINE ITS GREAT TRY IT
Reply:I loved being in marching band. It was the highlight of my high school days. It isn%26#039;t for everyone but if you have a real passion for music and love performing go for it. If you are in a good program in your school all the better.

And being in band has nothing to do with being nerdy. It is about musical talent and showcasing it.
Reply:marching band sucks.

i did it 4 years in high school

for my major(music education) i am required to do 2 years in college. i%26#039;ve finished 1, so this is my last season.

i%26#039;m section leader.

but its the most torturous thing you will ever do.
Reply:everyone feels differently about marching band.. personally i was in it for 4 years in highschool and was the drum major my senior year. It was extremely fun and allows you to get some very good friends.

make sure you respect your elders.. if a section leader or drum major tells you to do something, don%26#039;t disrespect them

also make sure you don%26#039;t make the band director mad lol.. mine wasn%26#039;t too fond of me the last year of high school

it%26#039;s a lot of hard work but when you get it nothing feels better than being awarded a superior with distinction at state

Do i sing tenor or bass?

because i can sing both fairly well and it confuses me as well as my chorus teacher. how can i tell because i can reach pretty high within reason and pretty much as possible. i mean which do i sing because i can sing both but i just feel tonor is more fun how should i decide
Do i sing tenor or bass?
It%26#039;s alright to be able to sing both, you just need to learn how to control both of them pretty well. Whichever one is more comfortable and natural for you is what I would go with, though.

I hope that this has helped!!

Hayley. : )
Do i sing tenor or bass?
I%26#039;d have to hear you sing.
Reply:dont decide. u can be both. most teacher/directors like it if u can sing both.

What was your first encounter with Theatre and the experience it gave you?

My first experience with the theatre was about 4 and my mum took me to see the %26#039;Puff the Magic Dragon%26#039; stage show (i loved it) Ever since then i me and mum hav been to about 14 different stage shows and we hav loved every single one of them. The theatre has made me someone who enjoys the arts music dance and all theat sort of thing. I love the theatre.
What was your first encounter with Theatre and the experience it gave you?
Elementary School. I was forced to play a part I didn%26#039;t want to and I have disliked theater ever since. I have found now that I am approaching 40 years of age that my taste is slowly changing and I think I could deal with some theater.
What was your first encounter with Theatre and the experience it gave you?
My first time on stage was at my mother%26#039;s high school reunion about 9 years ago. My mother%26#039;s friend%26#039;s children (about age 10+) were suppossed to sing the circle of life from lion king. None of them had the courgae to and I (thinking it was a game) went up and sung the chorus about 5 times but was rewarded with lion king paintings hehe. Anyway, that memory has stayed with my and now i%26#039;m 15 and last week, I played the part of Mark Cohen in our high school%26#039;s major production of %26quot;Rent%26quot;; last week I was also awarded a certificate of achievement in theatre arts. That first moment on stage taught me not to think on stage, but not to be too impulsive, just live in the moment, and act that you are your character.
Reply:Uh... you look really familiar. Like someone holding the Drama of History 2008 for singapore. uh, my first %26quot;brush%26quot; with theatre in acting would be when I was primary 4 (10). Acted as an old man, got knocked by a rowdy teen, the passer-bys had to help my character. My most popular role has been a ol man ever since :) Contact me if you know of Drama of History!
Reply:I have always admire those who been a part of theater. The courage and dedication poured into. Last year I went to watch Putri Gunung Ledang the Musical and had enjoyed it immensely. It will always be in my mind and soul. From the props to the sounds system, the minor roles to the main roles, the scripts and the lyrics, easily put it, the whole productions I rate it Excellent!
Reply:I%26#039;m a performer and since I was a kid the stage was part of my growing up, performing arts is tough but very fullfiling, countless days and hours of rehearsing and preparing for the main event, but it%26#039;s not just the spotlight and ovations you recieve from the audience that makes you feel special, its the bond you had with your fellow artists, friendship and how it molds you as a person, how it teaches you to live your life, its a brotherhood, not just a share for love in performing but also a foundation of what%26#039;s ahead you. . . there are countless productions that I was in, plays, variety shows, concerts, operas etc. and i say the stage is our exhibit, a showroom of our world, our culture, and life couldn%26#039;t be the same without it.
Reply:the first i could remember is my free-time doodled script was noticed by my teacher, she encouraged me to put it up with friends during assembly. I%26#039;ve always watched TV programmes, but it%26#039;s funny how staging it was much more fun than watching it though the box. Thanks to my Primary 4 teacher for the fun that i%26#039;ve had!
Reply:My first theatre experience was when I was 14. We had a school official opening ceremony and I was one of those chosen to be part of the musical cast. Quited my then CCA, uniform group, to join the Drama Club. I just fell in love with it till today. When you take up a certain role, it can be such a stress relieving process. You put aside your life and problems and what have you, for that moment and take up the character%26#039;s life - completely putting yourself in others%26#039; hoes and just being in character. Great feeling, difficult to express. Since then, been watching theatres every now and then such as Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Singing in the Rain, Oliver Twist and some of the local ones like JBJ, The Good Citizen, Pillowman etc. Theatre is thousand times better than movies in a cinema..

I remember my 1st stage performance with you and the gang.It was an experience that I will never forget!Totally different from TV work.Stage acting and production is totally challenging and exciting! Once the ball starts rolling, the show must go on.I will always remember you as someone that is talented to a %26quot;T%26quot;.Oh man!You don%26#039;t know how the nerves got me everytime it was my turn perform with you guys.If I could turn back the clock,I would have been chosen the stage over a camera.

Once again, congrats and continue to do what you are doing cos you are doing such a great job!

Reply:Surprisingly, my first encounter with Theatre was a school assembly play in my secondary school years ago. But my genuine first encounter with Theatre was in 1999 when I watched the Kuo Pao Kun%26#039;s %26quot;Sunset Rise%26quot; during the Singapore Arts Festival 1999. That performance inspired me to pursue a theatre career.
Reply:I love stage show. When I was 16, I studied Macbeth as part of my Literature subject and that was I first saw a seriously setup stage with actors in costumes. And after that, I began my quest to watch the performances at the theatres, whenever time and money can afford. The most memorable show I have watched is The Phantom of The Opera which I watched twice when they were in town. I would still catch them again if they return.
Reply:It felt great since the first time i went there..
Reply:my first encounter was accompanying my aunt for a very short play abt protect trees(dun remember group nor title) at Lau Pa Sat when I was in primary school...then when i grew up and joined church, i went to help out making props for its drama production...ever since then, i have been helping in props and stage management for 4 yrs :)

it gives me a very fulfilling feeling whenever i see the people in rehearsal, and people enjoying the production :)
Reply:My 1st encounter was when I accompanied a friend to watch a Chinese play in which her bro acted in. I had a good experience. I love going to the theatre thereafter, esp. for Chinese plays. After that, I do go to English plays as well and enjoy them tremendously. The latest one that I went was Broadway Beng 3! It%26#039;s totally hilarious. I almost laughed my head off. And I took a photo with Sebastian Tan. Cool!!! =)
Reply:I played Tom in the Glass Menagerie for a school play when I was 15 (though I%26#039;m a girl) and it was fantastic! Introduced me to such a magnificent world of beauty and imagination that I could ever hope for! I am definitely going in the business man!
Reply:i saw %26quot;south pacific%26quot; when i was 4 or 5. i was baffled by the song about washing the %26quot;man right out of my hair%26quot;. i had no idea what it meant, and for some strange reason it scared me. i didn%26#039;t like the experience. i saw a few other plays, none were remarkable. i did like the sets on the %26quot;christmas carol%26quot;. i guess i am not a theatre person. the characters just seem like a bunch of crazy people breaking into song %26amp; dance all the time. but i absolutely loved %26quot;stomp%26quot;. i went twice. i loved that they didn%26#039;t keep singing about everything. anyway, i wish i had a better experience to tell you because i admire that you are doing what you love.
Reply:The theatre is like one big family... you get to know everyone so well because you are with them everyday! In my opinion, it is the best experience anyone can have! :)
Reply:LORD of the Flies! When I was 16, my friend Monoho and I did the play for school assembly. The teacher left everything to us and we did recruitment, playwrite, production, directing all on our own. We even created the pig ourselves with cardboards, tapes and cottonwool and had to carry it to school at 6a.m. Half way through the journey we stole a chair as a carrier from a kopitiam as the pig was just too heavy and cotton was stuck to our perspiring bodies. What fun!
Reply:my first theater experience was during my Sec 4 year when my whole class was part of a school theater production at Victoria Theatre. it was quite an experience! although we were quite stiff on stage, only singing one song as background people, it was good! i just love the whole idea of preparation, rehearsing, making sure everything goes smoothly!

after that, wasn%26#039;t given much chance to go on stage. more of backstage help. but i do go to theater productions once in a while. =)
Reply:nice,relaxing,a place worth going.

Reply:I cannot really remember my first encounter, but I have actually attended a play at DBS Auditorium today. (Youth Matters).

It was really touching because the play very much related to the lives of teenagers and youngsters these days. It showcased the problems individuals may face when trying to fit into their family and also how family can be not very supportive of their children. (Individual and Family)

As a teen myself, I was able to identify what relates to my life and I concentrated on that particular scenario. The play showed us that no matter how angry or uoset we may get with life and parents, they have always done what is right for us. For example, a mother canes her child, but actually loves the child deep down inside. They have their own way of showing their love to their children. However, I felt that this does not apply to everyone. Speaking from experience, I think a more matured child should be able to identify what is right and what is wrong on his/her own. When the child is matured enough and takes life seriously, he/she is able to tell if a parent really loves them.

In conclusion, I have been exposed to the various issues faced by teenagers and I have understood what is right and wrong. To reiterate my earlier statement, I would just like to say that there are some parents out there who just do not care about their children at all. For example, after a divorce, one parent does not bother to contact his/her kids eventhough there are many ways to contact them. This I would say is not good parenting. Before I go out of point, I would prefer to end my answer here.
Reply:Hi Natalie :)

The first time I went to the theatre I saw Romeo and Juliet.

I was only 5 y.o. and didn%26#039;t have a clue what it was all about.

Since then, I have seen many Operas, Operettas, and plays in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, England, Singapore and of course the Opera house in Sydney.

I must say that I used to enjoy going to the theatre much more than today.

When I was a teenager, we would all get really dressed up, out of respect for the performers.

Today, very few people make the effort. Something I found very disturbing when I was in Sydney.

However, the last performance I saw by the Necessary Stage Club, Singaporeans do dress to show respect.

Love to see your new play

Much Ado About Nothing (Raffles Hotel) was one of the plays I saw.

Excellent performance.

Would love it if they could show CATS again in Singapore

Which song should i choose for my music audition??

hey guys, i%26#039;m auditioning on thursday for a music scholarship. i narrowed it down to 2 songs that i might sing, either: Only Hope by Mandy Moore, or Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. Which song do you think would make them consider me more for the scholarship?? I%26#039;m fully capable of singing both songs, just not sure which one I should officially sing. I%26#039;d appreciate your opinions. thanks. =)
Which song should i choose for my music audition??
%26quot;Only Hope%26quot; by Mandy Moore, it sounds like a pretty song. People would like that one better. Have fun on your audition. Don%26#039;t be nervous!! Sing beautiful!!
Which song should i choose for my music audition??
Definitely %26quot;Only Hope%26quot;, it more more technically difficult in my opinion and more artistically pleasing. I don%26#039;t think you would get the effect you would want in an audition with the other song.

Does anyone play violin? is it easy to learn?

it%26#039;s not really easy. there%26#039;s a lot to get the hang of as far as how to hold the violin and the bow, and then learning finger placements and how to get a good sound out of it. If you already read treble clef, that helps. I%26#039;d say the first 6 months are hard, but once you get over a few humps, you%26#039;re on your way.

How hard is it to learn guitar?

I have always wanted to learn how to play acoustic guitar, but im scared if I try to learn I wont get it. So how hard is it and what advice can you give me?
How hard is it to learn guitar?
its not easy.definately.

im now learning to play.

but im sure its worth it in the end.
How hard is it to learn guitar?
Hey Proud... if you love the instrument like I did, you will learn it quickly and start playing after 3 months.

Practice is the key and on a daily basis even if it is 30 min. It%26#039;s like any school subject. If you don%26#039;t study, it will take you longer than the person who studies.

If you have doubt, then forget it. I am telling you it is one of the easiest instrument and I know. I play piano also.

Good Luck !!!!
Reply:Its fun, is it super easy, no, it it impossible, hell no.

Start simple, ignore the music theory snobs and just enjoy yourself.

Two words: Power Chords!!! Learn a few of them and you will be in blues and rock heaven
Reply:If you want to learn, you will. If you come up with excuses as to why you can%26#039;t learn, then you won%26#039;t. Been playing since the 60s. Good luck.
Reply:haha

well if you WANT TO then do it

i am doing from what i hear pretty good for a beginner (i can most of slayer songs [raining blood exept for realy fast part])and iv been playing for about 4 months

vs

my cousin who really only can play smoke on water and thats cause she has no determination

the main thing you need is perseverance, if you really want to play DO IT, by that youll do better than the ones who dont want to play it, and when u do, DONT QUIT!

if you start , around maybe the 3 or 4 month you might want to take a break, DONT! itll mess you up. practice regularly

dont expect to sound pretty when you start, just keep practicing! if you want help for when/if you start look at my other answers or ask me. and hey i honestly dought you will get it good in the begining ALOT of people dont (unless you musically inclined) but hey practice(i cant say this enough) and keep going (same case)

hope you decide to play!
Reply:When I started playing, i thought it would be impossible to learn, but if you%26#039;re really dedicated to learning and practice enough, it really isn%26#039;t that complicated of an instrument. I advise to not try to learn to fast because it will frustrate you and you will probably not want to learn anymore.
Reply:it%26#039;s like walking, once you get it you never stop doing it.
Reply:At first it is hard, but once you get it, you got it and you can play almost anything you want. My advise is to stick to it no matter what. Playing so worth your while. I%26#039;m trying to teach my %26#039;lil brother and it makes me soooooo mad when he just gives up and runs away...Another bit of advise is to try and figure some things by yourself. Don%26#039;t rely on a teacher or the Internet. I have a friend who was taught by a teacher and they miss out on a lot...
Reply:It%26#039;s not extremely hard, but it takes a lot of dedication. Plan on spending at least, and I stress the %26quot;at least%26quot; half an hour to an hour every day to play. I have been playing for about 6 years and probably play for about 2 hours each day. Find someone who you trust to teach you. Someone who will motivate you and teach you what you need to know. You will probably start out with learning chords, which are the basis of everything, and that will lead you to playing some simple songs. And then eventually you will learn scales, which will make you and all around better musician. Hopefully you enjoy your guitar playing! Best of luck!

Reply:1.fruit sales, car washes, dance-a-thons(only not really, but i think a dance off would be good to earn money. haa)

2.don%26#039;t want you to steal out amazing mottos. :)

3.cleaning up the field, running, longer practice.

i LOVE band.

i%26#039;m an ultamite band geek.

:)
Reply:1. spring concert with name brand guest artists, with %26quot;a taste of ________%26quot; (put your local comunity in the blank).

students and parents got local restaurants and stores to donate food, beverages, paper goods etc. to sell as a fundraiser before the concert. our worst year in ten netted us $1800 for one evenings work, (thats just the food sales).

2. don%26#039;t cheat yourself, always give your best!

3. no potty mouth on the field, no exceptions! this means coaches and band directors do pushups if they lose their cool! (one rehearsal i did 130 pushups for bad words %26amp; i had my section leaders and DM doing them with me voluntarily out of respect,....)
Reply:1. mulch sales, various flowers, and candles.

2. basically, integrity

3. they use the water breaks a source of control. like if we dont do as well, then we get shorter water breaks.

[2nd place in the entire east coast]

and we worked hard for it too
Reply:okay...fund-raisers....

I do not like fund raising. There I%26#039;ve said it. Seriously, you get what, 40 cents out of every dollar? That is not fair. I like to have car-washes, silent auctions (where we auction off community service by my students...lawn care, painting, dog walking etc...). We held a Guitar Hero Showdown this spring - it wasn%26#039;t as successful as I wanted, but we charged a $4.00 registration fee and awarded trophies to the winner (recycled MB trophies from years past). My band boosters also collect donations during out neighborhood rehearsals (we march through different neighborhoods once a week). These things we do the band keeps 100% of the proceeds and seems to work pretty well. We also do the more common methods of fund-raising throughout the year...cheese and sausages, candy, popcorn, magazines, gift wrap. I am contemplating on doing a %26quot;march-a-thon%26quot; at some point - where each MB member gets sponsered for every lap they do around the track.

Onto mottos...

I use a lot of different little quips throughout the school year.

I treat MB a lot like an athletic activity and expect my student to treat it as such. The one motto I like to use during the MB season is %26quot;go hard, or go home.%26quot; I can%26#039;t take credit for that, Minnesota Teacher of the Year Tom Keating used it in his classroom (kudos TK!)

Disciplinary actions...

Maybe I should have said that I run it more like a boot camp than and athletic activity. I make my members stand outside at attention at 8:30 at night with the mosquitoes bighting with not scratching and no moving. If anyone moves I add 1 minute more (They start at 3 minutes...inevitably someone WILL scratch). If there is ANY disrespect to anyone in an authority position, they lose 10 participation points (they all start at 200). Music not memorized by the end of the 3rd week...they loose 10 participation points. Inappropriate behavior in the community (practice or parades) we always have the laps/push ups. I also don%26#039;t air condition the rehearsal room during the summer, that way if we need to move indoors for rehearsal, it is just as warm in there as it is outside. Sadomasochistic? Perhaps. But it has worked for the past 31 years at my school.
Reply:1)Fruit sale (LOL typical I know), jazzy Italian Night

2)Well this goes every year (especially since were in quad A) %26quot;Great bands are made in the last thirty minutes [of practice]%26quot;

3) depends on your caption head/ section leader. I%26#039;m in guard and we do push ups for swearing etc.

also we have a policy for when to show up at practice. as my BD says....

%26quot;If your early your on-time, on-time your late, late... you don%26#039;t want to know.%26quot;
Reply:we do fruit sales.

haha. so many bands do that. but let me tell ya it is sooooo helpful. we also see cheese and sausage! lol. its from some company. i dont know what it is because i dont sell the cheese and sausage stuff. but still helpful.

we dont really have any mottos. our band director just kinda gives us %26quot;the look%26quot; and we know that we better do our best. lol

Is it true dat more expensive drums make u sound like u play better den wut u really do?

and da most important question is...what are some good drums I can buy 4 less den $700 i prefer way less den dat but n e ways. im not dat good of a drumer im like a beginer.
Is it true dat more expensive drums make u sound like u play better den wut u really do?
They will not make you sound like a better drummer. The tone of the drum will be better but I wouldn%26#039;t say it actually makes the drummer sound better. A good drummer can make a piece of crap set sound better than a beginner can make a $10,000 set sound. As far as the best drums under $700, if you are looking for something that comes with cymbals this might be your best bet. Also check out the other kits on this site and read some of the customer reviews.

It depends on whether or not you are at intermeidate level right now. If not, then I would recommend buying a kit without a %26quot;ride cymbal%26quot; because these can get pretty pricey. The stagg kit featured on the DrumWright website is fantastic; we have it at school and it certainly makes my drumming sound better than it does on the pile of rubbish I have at home.

Do anyone have the scores or know where i can get them for...?

Do anyone have the scores or know where i can get them for...?
Okay, I don%26#039;t think they are there, but let me paste the links to popular video game music sites here:

BlueLaguna - http://www.bluelaguna.net - lots of OSTs, but no sheet music.

Final Fantasy Music - http://ffmusic.ffshrine.org/ - lot of sheet music, but unfortunately all FF.

The last one is also a popular site for game music and media, but my antivirus software detected a trojan going in. I%26#039;ll paste it anyway...

Galbadia Hotel - http://gh.ffshrine.org/

Find a local music store and ask them.

Does anyone know a good song for a jazz solo something hard rock??
Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas is really cool...but its not jazz. Jethro Tull%26#039;s Boure is cool to...and its pretty jazzy.
